Senior B’s lose 25-16 to Wallace B’s in 1/4 Finals of Plate

For the quarter finals of the plate Banbridge travelled to Lisburn, to compete against Wallace. In the first quarter both teams played very well, each fighting hard for the ball. Wallace having first centre pass and some amazing play brought the ball up the court and scored but this didn’t faze Banbridge at all. With some great defence from Annie Robinson (GK), and attacking play from Katie Baxter (WA) and Alex Finney (C), Wallace won the quarter 5-3.

For the second quarter the same team remained on. This quarter was slightly more challenging than the first as Wallace came on fighting with amazing defensive and attacking play. Banbridge still kept going with some good interceptions from Zeta Gley (WD) and Alex Finney (C). The girls managed to get the ball back up to the circle where Nadia Radcliffe (GA) and Emily Johnstone (GS) displayed some great movement in the circle, managing to score 7 more goals whilst Wallace only scored 4 keeping the scores for this quarter tight, 10-9 to Banbridge Academy.

In the third quarter Wallace made some adjustments to their team and came on stronger than ever. Even so Banbridge didn’t give up, with some good linking play from Katie Baxter (WA) and defence from Zara Ginniff (GD), the girls managed to get the ball down to the circle, but then an injury occurred causing Nadia Radcliffe GA to call time and come off court for the rest of the match with Evie Mckinney moving into her position. During the rest of this quarter the girls still never gave up but despite their best efforts to break through Wallace’s strong defence, the girls managed to get 3 more goals in where as Wallace scored 9. With the quarter ending 19-12 to Wallace.

For the final quarter the girls still played as strong as ever, but so did Wallace. With some great interceptions from Annie Robinson (GK) and Zeta Gley (WD), they managed to keep the ball mostly down the of the court. As Alex Finney (C) worked hard to get the ball down to the shooters and with some amazing shots from Evie Mckinney (GA), the girls managed to keep the score tight for this final quarter, as Banbridge scored 4 goals and Wallace scored 6. Resulting in the final score being 25-16 to Wallace.

Well done to Wallace for an amazing match, well done to all the players and well done especially to our player of the match Alex Finney!!??
