Seniors beat St Genevieve’s in Semi-Final League play off 👏

Senior girls win quarter final league playoff 25-21 against St Genevieve’s

The match began with St Genevieve’s taking a strong 3-0 lead. BA kept playing their best and managed to over turn a few of St Genevieve’s centre’s, leaving the first quarter score at 6-8 to St Genevieve’s.
The second quarter proved to be a slight improvement for BA , with some great tips and defence from Alex (C) and Zeta (WD). Nadia and Emily worked hard in the circle, making 5 more shots between them. The second quarter score was left at 11-12 still with St Genevieve’s in the lead.
The third quarter really saw BA’s skill coming through to the surface, with several of the girls making steals and successfully holding our own, even managing to hold a 3 nil lead for a while. Despite this, St Genevieve’s were playing harder than ever, and the third quarter score was left as a draw at 17-17.
In the fourth and final quarter, the BA girls really showed off their talent. Some changes were made and Evie was brought on to GS, and working with Nadia (GA) made 8 more baskets ,with St Genevieve’s only managing to slip 4 shots past our strong defence and mid-court pressure. The final score was left at 25-21 to BA!!
A huge congratulations to the girls as they progress to the next stage of the NI league play-offs and especially well done to Nadia Radcliffe our player of the match!!

Senior B’s lose 25-16 to Wallace B’s in 1/4 Finals of Plate

For the quarter finals of the plate Banbridge travelled to Lisburn, to compete against Wallace. In the first quarter both teams played very well, each fighting hard for the ball. Wallace having first centre pass and some amazing play brought the ball up the court and scored but this didn’t faze Banbridge at all. With some great defence from Annie Robinson (GK), and attacking play from Katie Baxter (WA) and Alex Finney (C), Wallace won the quarter 5-3.

For the second quarter the same team remained on. This quarter was slightly more challenging than the first as Wallace came on fighting with amazing defensive and attacking play. Banbridge still kept going with some good interceptions from Zeta Gley (WD) and Alex Finney (C). The girls managed to get the ball back up to the circle where Nadia Radcliffe (GA) and Emily Johnstone (GS) displayed some great movement in the circle, managing to score 7 more goals whilst Wallace only scored 4 keeping the scores for this quarter tight, 10-9 to Banbridge Academy.

In the third quarter Wallace made some adjustments to their team and came on stronger than ever. Even so Banbridge didn’t give up, with some good linking play from Katie Baxter (WA) and defence from Zara Ginniff (GD), the girls managed to get the ball down to the circle, but then an injury occurred causing Nadia Radcliffe GA to call time and come off court for the rest of the match with Evie Mckinney moving into her position. During the rest of this quarter the girls still never gave up but despite their best efforts to break through Wallace’s strong defence, the girls managed to get 3 more goals in where as Wallace scored 9. With the quarter ending 19-12 to Wallace.

For the final quarter the girls still played as strong as ever, but so did Wallace. With some great interceptions from Annie Robinson (GK) and Zeta Gley (WD), they managed to keep the ball mostly down the of the court. As Alex Finney (C) worked hard to get the ball down to the shooters and with some amazing shots from Evie Mckinney (GA), the girls managed to keep the score tight for this final quarter, as Banbridge scored 4 goals and Wallace scored 6. Resulting in the final score being 25-16 to Wallace.

Well done to Wallace for an amazing match, well done to all the players and well done especially to our player of the match Alex Finney!!👏👏

A win to the Seniors against St Malachy’s Castlewellan

The girls started off the first quarter strong with accurate passing and multiple steals, working the ball up the court to Gemma and Katie who proceeded to covert the steals in to goals. Finishing the first quarter with a score of 6-2 to Banbridge academy.

The girls remained consistent within the second quarter with numerous steals from Lizzie Little although St Malachys started to put on pressure resulting in a tight score of 10-8 to Banbridge Academy at the end of the first half.

After a few changes, Rachel Ward into Wing Attack and Lynsey Orr into Centre the girls played an outstanding quarter working well together to push ahead of St Malachys fuelled by the addition of new players.

Lizzie Little and Annabelle Kelly worked well to remove the ball from the defensive third and subsequently Aofie McNally assisted with many interceptions allowing the attacking players to build upon the lead. The third quarter’s result clearly showed this finishing with a score of 17-11.

In the last quarter the girls continued to play to an excellent standard and showed great determination, resulting in a finishing score of 22-15.

Special congratulations to Gemma Hassan who was awarded player of the match.
