Banbridge Academy Minors played against Our Lady’s Newry. This was a well-played match with the overall score of 11-8. The first quarter was intense with a score of 3 all at the end of the first 7.5 minutes. The girls were just settling in at this point but were happy with the outcome.

The second quarter was played skilfully with a result of 6-5 to Banbridge – Katie Mulligan scoring the three goals as GA and Alana Burns playing as GS. In the third quarter the girls weren’t as calm but achieved a score 8 all with Paris Travers scoring both goals as GS.

Intermediate beat St Paul’s Bessbrook

In the first quarter we began strong and we made a convincing start and sustained this throughout all play. We dominated our presence and fought to maintain the lead. Our shooters came on and didn’t miss a shot. There were many good interceptions made by Hannah, Zara and Zeta, bringing the ball to Nadia and Emily, shooting great goals.
In the second quarter, the girls came back on with a mindset to win. Katie made good interceptions and worked with Alex to dominate the ball and bring to the shooters, with another successful quarter.
After half time the girls were feeling the pressure as St Paul’s came back on very strong, however the girls fought back to keep the lead. The defence was very strong to ensure the shooters could make the shots to keep them in front.
In the final quarter, the team worked together in order to finish it off. The attacking positions remained strong and the defence fought to keep the ball in our half. The team all worked together to win the match and everyone played to the best of their ability!

And well done to the player of the match Nadia Radcliffe!!

Juniors lose a tight game to Our Lady’s, Newry

Banbridge Academy juniors lost to Our lady’s Newry after a tough match on February 4th.

With only one training session after exam season, we started this match of great, showing great attacking skills from Zara and Cathrine scoring 3 giving a 1 point lead.

Moving into the second quarter, Our Lady’s picked up the pace, which led to a very fast and furious match. This meant plenty of pressure on defence however this was handled very well by GK Oliveen, GD Selena, Amy and WD Sasha, Cathrine, ending on a score of 4-6 to Our Lady’s.

In the third Quart Sasha moved from WD to GS and Cathrine GA to WD. Both showed impressive ability to swap between attack and defence with ease. Ending on 6-8 to Our Lady’s.

In the final Quarter we kept up the fast paced match again with Our Lady’s keeping the pressure on us. With great possession from Brooke and Lois. We finished the match with a score of 7-12, well done for our first match back.

Also, very well done to our player of the match Sasha Herron (GS)&(WD)

Intermediate’s beat RSA 17-1

In the first quarter after the first centre pass, Royal School Armagh took the lead by scoring their first and only goal.

Excellent interceptions from Annie (GD) and Zara (WD) and passes from Alex (C) and Katie (WA) the girls took the lead at the end of the quarter with a 5 goals scored from Nadia (GA) and Emily (GS).

In the second quarter there where no changes in the team made. We got off to a shakey start as RSA made a few interceptions and brought the game to our circle. But fortunately our strong defence Annie Zara and Hannah (GK) made great interceptions giving our team the extra bonus of scoring another 7 goals leaving the match at 12-1 at the end of that quarter.

At the start of the third quarter we made some changes with Nadia playing WA Emily playing GA and Evie coming on for GS. The girls found it hard to get in steady passes into our circle but by the end of that quarter Emily and Evie had managed to score 3 goals bringing the score to 15-1 at the end of the quarter.

In the last quarter another few changes were made Katie playing WD Zara playing C and Alex playing WA. With these changes made our team was able to pick up another 2 goals from Emily GA with the help of our defenders’ interceptions for our attackers accurate passing. The final score was 17-1! We thank RSA for hosting our match and wish them luck in their further fixtures. But saying that well done to our team and a very big congratulations to our player of the match Annie Robinson!!
